Abstract

Background. The topic of conjugation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB) is among the issues widely discussed. The priorities of any country are the protection of sovereignty, ensuring security, increasing international prestige, ensuring mutually beneficial cooperation, increasing involvement in international and regional processes, vigorous activity aimed at the stable development of the country and modernization of the economy in bilateral and multilateral formats, developing new markets and attracting investment. Solving such large-scale tasks is impossible apart from the partner countries.
Materials and methods. The implementation of research tasks was achieved on the basis of an analysis of the areas of cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and China. Particular attention is paid to overcoming the imbalance in the development of the political and economic components of a comprehensive partnership.
Results. The article considers the significance and prospects for the implementation of the agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and China. Equal and open cooperation between them, taking into account the interests of all participants, has the potential for qualitative growth of mutual investments, access to common markets for goods and services.
Conclusions. The study of the problems and prospects of cooperation between the countries allows us to conclude that successful implementation of the megaproject of the Eurasian Economic Union – China, possessing rich resources and hosting 63 percent of the world’s population, will provide a stable and safe environment for the development of the Eurasian continent and will fully reveal the economic potential of the region.
